It has been awhile since I've last heard from alan, but I am glad she's back...and kickin' booty! It's a pity that the music video is just one of those lazy ones where they take clips and mush it together (even though alan is still looking as gorgeous as ever). Now I just need a Japanese comeback!

Release Date: February 28th, 2012
purchase a copy via Amazon.

Book Description From Amazon:
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.

Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic-in-training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws have pushed what's left of humanity to the brink of civil war, and she's not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will find that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.

Dan Wells, acclaimed author of I Am Not a Serial Killer, takes readers on a pulsepounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our humanity is both our greatest liability and our only hope for survival.</blockquote>

I am sure sure this is the most anticipated YA release this year.
While I didn't like the first book as much as I thought I should, I hope Insurgent will save the story for me. I will definitely be reading this as soon as possible, but honestly it's because I don't want to be left out when people start raving about it. I feel like one of those few people who just "don't get it."
Divergent was exciting and easy to read, but fell flat on storyline (what exactly makes it a dystopia anyway, nothing seems to be wrong with this society.), I hope Insurgent will fix it.

Book Description From Amazon:
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

Debut author Veronica Roth bursts onto the YA scene with the first book in the Divergent series—dystopian thrillers filled with electrifying decisions, heartbreaking betrayals, stunning consequences, and unexpected romance.

Not to mention Veronica Roth is only twenty-two, quite a talent. I just finished this book about two hours ago, and although I can't say I loved Roth's writing, I adore the plot. Though I must admit, I see glaring similarities to The Hunger Games, but maybe that's just the common trend around YA books, it's been awhile since I've read one after all. The book was well worth its hype, although not jaw-droppingly awesome. I am not critic, but I feel Roth's character and plot development could be more realistic and the story better organized. Even if the plot has its flaws, the conflicts between human characters and between human nature and choice pique the reader into introspective questioning...in the best possible way. But an addicting read nonetheless.

Sophie Kinsella is hands-down my favorite chick-lit author, she's one of the few that can actually make me laugh out loud; unlike the multitude of books that claim to be hilarious in their blurbs, and end up painfully boring...or just plain ridiculous. I know the book isn't officially released yet, but I am sure if you are a Kinsella fan, you won't be able to wait. I simply can't wait to own a copy, 12 more days to go!

[SONG] Niki and The Dove - DJ Ease My Mind
release: February 26th, 2011
language: English
genre: Pop, Electronic, Indie

I can't even pretend to know about this Swedish duo, because I only knew their name a little over a week ago from BBC's Sound of 2012, and only because I subscribe to BBC's newsfeed. I watched their brief interview video, but didn't check out their music until I came across their latest music video on a music blog a few days ago, and I fell in love instantly. It's a pity their album is not out yet, but they do have an EP and a couple of singles. This song was actually released in 2010 I believe, but didn't get label treatment until recently, and I am definitely loving what I hear and see. Their sound is a bit like Royskopp and Fever Ray, a blend of the blogosphere's retro electronic mixed with the perfect pop melody. Niki's voice is just captivating, it's almost like she is chanting an anthem in the middle of a campfire...an electronic-filled campfire. I am usually not one for indie, but I am hopelessly addicted to this song, 190 plays..and counting in just two days.

[EBook] The Tiger's Wife: A Novel by Téa Obreht (2011)
preview book on Amazon
New York Times Bestseller
2011 National Book Award Finalist
Winner of the 2011 Orange Prize for Fiction

From Publishers Weekly
Starred Review. The sometimes crushing power of myth, story, and memory is explored in the brilliant debut of Obreht, the youngest of the New Yorker's 20-under-40. Natalia Stefanovi, a doctor living (and, in between suspensions, practicing) in an unnamed country that's a ringer for Obreht's native Croatia, crosses the border in search of answers about the death of her beloved grandfather, who raised her on tales from the village he grew up in, and where, following German bombardment in 1941, a tiger escaped from the zoo in a nearby city and befriended a mysterious deaf-mute woman. The evolving story of the tiger's wife, as the deaf-mute becomes known, forms one of three strands that sustain the novel, the other two being Natalia's efforts to care for orphans and a wayward family who, to lift a curse, are searching for the bones of a long-dead relative; and several of her grandfather's stories about Gavran Gailé, the deathless man, whose appearances coincide with catastrophe and who may hold the key to all the stories that ensnare Natalia. Obreht is an expert at depicting history through aftermath, people through the love they inspire, and place through the stories that endure; the reflected world she creates is both immediately recognizable and a legend in its own right. Obreht is talented far beyond her years, and her unsentimental faith in language, dream, and memory is a pleasure. (Mar.)

I don't foresee myself posting many ebooks in the future, but since I am currently reading this novel, albeit in hardcover, I might as well. I am not even close to finishing the novel yet, but I do hope you will enjoy it.

[SONG]Dia Frampton - The Broken Ones & Don't Kick The Chai ft. Kid Cudi
from the album Red
release: December 6th, 2011
language: English
genre: Pop, Acoustic, Piano, Guitar

I'm sharing two songs today, both I've put on repeat incessantly for the past four days. It's getting to the point where my older sister wants to throw my laptop out the window. Both are by Dia Frampton, you might know her from Meg&Dia and on the NBC show, The Voice (I watched that show just to see Dia). I was impressed before, and I am definitely impressed now. I was saddened to find out about two years ago that Meg&Dia were dropped by Warner, since the album they released was pure awesomeness. But I am glad Dia went on The Voice which definitely raised her popularity, and of course gave her a label, and I like what I am hearing so far especially after The Cocoon (an indie album which I didn't like too much to be honest). I am definitely anticipating her new album, Red, dropping on the 6th! It seems reviewers already got their hands on it, I am jealous.

The first song is also her first single, called The Broken Ones, an acoustic folk pop song. To be honest, it took awhile to grow on me, but the chorus just echoes after the song's done. I admire the lyrics as well. She just have a unique quality in her voice that is not especially song, but pulls at the heartstrings with it's fragility albeit having a bit of a nasally quality. The piano is just gorgeous. The second song is Don't Kick The Chair feating Kid Cudi, I was a bit iffy when I saw Kid Cudi since his style of RB/Rap doesn't seem to fit in with Dia's classic folk style. But Dia definitely proved her versatility with a more pop-friendly tune. Super catchy, although I thought the rap was a bit forced and sounded a bit robotic. Interesting opening, I wonder if it's Dia or Kid Cudi...at times it sounds like a female but I am really not sure. Inspiring song, got me through a five-page research paper in one night, and super catchy chorus.
